Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
The population of Malaysia is divided between Malay, Indian and Chinese ethnicities, due to old 15th century trade routes and the draw of work within Malaysian mines and plantations.
December the 16th 775 marks the day An Lushan, a Chinese general, declared himself the emporer of Northern china and began the An Lushan rebellion. The rebellion and chaos that followed resulted in a huge loss of life and vast destruction across China. Although the rebellion ultimately failed, and initiated the deaths of an estimated 15 million people, it led to widespread social and economic change within the Tang dynasty, and is celebrated each year by the Chinese population.
